Prelude to a Halloweeneememe

Sunday October 29, 2006 in |

In the build up to Hallowee’en, I decided to draw a scary drawing. Partly for the amusement of my daughter and her friend, and partly for my own. Surrounded by several horror film books (and I appear to have a lot of them) I decided on the traditional. Boris Karloff from the original and best Frankenstein of 1931.

My daughter and her friend stumbled across me before I’d finished my picture. It was all planned of course, because part of the satisfaction of doing such things is the interest and admiration you can sometimes receive from children. The positive comments on my artwork, however, soon changed to slight concern as I gingerly began to tell the story of Frankenstein’s monster. Because, after all, it is pretty scary. Before I’d finished explaining the bolt through the neck, the castle and the insane professor, the operating table, the thunderstorm and the mad, torch wielding avenging mob, they were gone.

Alone again to finish my drawing, which you will see on the 31st.

National No Blogging Day

Friday October 27, 2006 in |

Sunday January 7th 2007 is National No Blogging Day. Wait a minute! Woah…Woah…Don’t go Googling for it! Hold your horses please. You won’t find anything on the web about this. Because I’ve just made it up. Another hair-brained scheme. I just thought it would be nice to set aside a day, one day in the year where:

You do not write or post anything on your blog.
You do not check your blog for new comments or site statistics.
You do not look at other blogs or read your feeds.
You do not comment on other blogs.

There is no buzz in cyberspace on this day. Instead, find time for:

Reading a book, watching a film or listening to music.
Visiting an art gallery or museum.
Going for a bracing walk.
Another activity of your choice.

If you’d like to take part, there is only one rule. If you observe National No Blogging Day:

Whatever you choose to do on Sunday 7th January 2007, don’t blog about it afterwards!
