National No Blogging Day

Friday October 27, 2006 in |

Sunday January 7th 2007 is National No Blogging Day. Wait a minute! Woah…Woah…Don’t go Googling for it! Hold your horses please. You won’t find anything on the web about this. Because I’ve just made it up. Another hair-brained scheme. I just thought it would be nice to set aside a day, one day in the year where:

You do not write or post anything on your blog.
You do not check your blog for new comments or site statistics.
You do not look at other blogs or read your feeds.
You do not comment on other blogs.

There is no buzz in cyberspace on this day. Instead, find time for:

Reading a book, watching a film or listening to music.
Visiting an art gallery or museum.
Going for a bracing walk.
Another activity of your choice.

If you’d like to take part, there is only one rule. If you observe National No Blogging Day:

Whatever you choose to do on Sunday 7th January 2007, don’t blog about it afterwards!

You know, this sounds like a good idea; I’m addicted to blogging. I spend over an hour writing my posts, then I spend an hour or more reading, commenting, and searching for other blogs. I also mess with my blog look. It’s kind of ridiculous, when I think about it, but I do know my limits. Personally, I couldn’t blog all day long, like Edward Champion at Return of the Reluctant.
I see you’re reading “The Monk”; that was going to be one of my R.I.P. books, but my library didn’t carry it. (Excuses, excuses.) I’d still like to read it, though.

I know exactly what you mean. Although I’m meant to be working at home today on realstuff, I’ve still managed to find time to write a post, read posts, comment on posts and ess with my blog look.
I didn’t find out about R.I.P. until it was too late unfortunately, although The Monk is worth reading, as is the new Susanna Clarke.
