Music Time

Wednesday December 27, 2006 in music |

The time of the season continues to mean lists, and here’s another one. So without further hesitation, here is a list of my favourite albums of 2006. Yes, I know that a couple of them came out last year, but I’m behind on my listening. And this is almost my last list of 2006.

The Top 5:

  1. Kate Bush (Aerial). A present last Christmas, although I’ve only started listening to it in the last week. Perfect background music for wrapping this year’s presents, and for writing Christmas posts.
  2. Graham Coxon (Love Travels at Illegal Speeds). Our one and only camping trip this year was brightened up considerably by my new iPod and the criminally underrated Mr Coxon.
  3. Morrissey (Ringleader of the Tormentors). More iPod fodder from one of Stephen Patrick Morrissey’s finest albums.
  4. Snow Patrol (Eyes Open). Jogging fodder, and I thank Snow Patrol for getting me through the training for this year’s half marathon.
  5. Richard Hawley (Coles Corner). At last, I’ve found an album that me and my wife enjoy.

Making up the 10 in no particular order:

  • Zutons (Tired of Hanging Around)
  • Gnarls Barclay (St. Elsewhere)
  • Paul Weller (As It Is)
  • Razorlight (Razorlight)
  • Pet Shop Boys (Fundamental)

PS

I’ve only just started listening to Sam’s Town by The Killers, but I’ll imagine it’ll be high on next year’s list.
