That’s nearly a book a week – impressed with your selection and the pace, especially with such long books in there. My favourite of these has to be The Little Stranger – agreed it’s terrifically well-paced and ticks all the right boxes for creepy terror. Wish I’d kept it for Christmas now, would’ve been better than the Beeb effort of Turn of the Screw.

The pace slackened towards the end of the year – too many abandoned novels. Yes the BBC Turn of the Screw was dreadful. I think the 1961 film The Innocents is on again soon – that’s worth checking out.
