Stocking Fillers

Against my better judgement, I drove out to the shopping mall on the edge of town yesterday morning clutching my shopping list. The trip was a disaster; I couldn’t find anything I wanted as I battled through the frantic crowds and the whole expedition was cut short when I realised I’d left my wallet at home.
The experience taught me several things. Not to visit the shopping mall a week before Christmas, not to go out without my wallet and not to attempt to buy anything in bookstores. Wherever I went, I just saw the same old titles.
Hah. As if the number of celebrity chef cookbooks/cash-ins isn’t enough, we now also have the “I’m related to a celebrity chef, so here’s my recipe book” cash in.
That’s probably unfair as it may well be a great recipe book, but I really doubt Tana Ramsey’s Family Kitchen would selling so much if she’d never met Gordon…
Yes, I did it as a present for the Missus. In my defence, she had specifically mentioned it some time ago…

Our kitchen shelves are stacked with books by forgotten celebrity chefs. Anton Mossiman – remember him? Probably not.We also have a couple of Ken Hom’s from his heyday.
