Fully Booked

There’s a possibility that I might be renaming and moving this website as I’d like to use the domain name for something else I have in the pipeline. The problem is, I’ve really been having trouble trying to think of a new name. For about five seconds I thought about using Fully Booked, which ties in with my recent commitment to reading challenges. But I think this is (or was) a Saturday morning children’s programme, and I also think it’s a name I could quickly tire of.

Looking around, it appears to me that every conceivable name for a blog has already been used (I’m only counting the inoffensive and sane here). So if anyone can come up with any suggestions, I’ll be eternally grateful – and if I like anything so much as to actually use it I won’t rule out giving a small token of my appreciation…

My favorite blog titles are ones that are both eye-catching and irreverent. (I hate the title of my blog, by the way, but I’m loathe to change the URL and risk losing my small audience.) I initially started reading Waggish because I loved the title. I also like ironic titles. Or you could use the old Book + a random word equation. Think along the lines of some of your favorite phrases or titles. Poetry might give you some ideas. How about Blahggish? I’m really bad at coming up with titles.

How about a name pun? English Lang. ? or similar…

I thought of Bloghound today, but that’s already taken. As is Dust Jacket. I’ll need to sleep on this one.

Blahggish isn’t bad, but people might confuse it with Blaugh the cartoon website. A name pun might be the way to go…

If you decide not to use Blahggish, then I’d like to claim it. What about something like Booktoilet? I thought that one was humorous. I’d considered using it earlier today, but the “toilet” aspect of it might conjure some unwanted images…then again, most bloggers have a sense of humor about these things. Also, take into consideration your blogging style. I’ve noticed that you’re more of a pundit; you’re not abrasive or arrogant, like Edward Champion. I’m sure you have a sense of humor, but you seem like a “serious” blogger, putting lots of thought into your posts, rather than rehashing links and offering humorous commentary on news and gossip.

That’s interesting, because I did notice Edward’s arrogance earlier today when I was looking at his blog.
Book Toilet..or Book Bog? Or Book Pundit. I thought of Paperback Reader as a Beatles pun, but that’s been taken too.
Consider Blaggish yours, but be quick about it. You never know who’s reading…

The SLang Bog Book Blog: the blog for books read by Stephen Lang, that end up on the bathroom floor…

obviously “S Lang” as the word “slang” lends itself to further possibilities.

Hmmph. Of course, this is all coming from the person inventive enough to stick a “the” and an “s” either side of this surname :-)

Maybe everybody should just use their own names for their blogs, with the option of adding a 'The' at the beginning and an 's' at the end.

It's also true about not wanting to lose a small readership. I've noticed lately - to my surprise - that I've cropped up on a couple of blogrolls. So a change of name might be like starting all over again. Unless I can think of a really good one of course...

In that case the option is maybe to look at subdomains…

www.stephenlang.co.uk
books.stephenlang.co.uk
newthing.stephenlang.co.uk

I’m not 100% sure how you operate and maintain these but I know it’s a possibility, so that may be an option…

Dan Champion may be able to advise, since he has reviews.blether, www.blether and paradise.blether all in use.
