Humax - There's More

Still thinking about my beloved Humax, I visited the forum at Digital Spy. It seems that my Freeview box with a hard drive is even smarter than I’d thought.
I’d been aware that software updates could be downloaded from the web, I just didn’t have it in me to try this out. What I didn’t know was that the Humax will upgrade itself at periodic intervals if left in standby mode. Updated by the digital signal. Or electrickery, as Catweazle would say. The most recent was in July. So that’s why I can suddenly start playing back programmes while they’re still recording. And I thought I’d only just figured out how to do this. How dumb am I?
