I’m taking a break from Reading and Writing for a couple of weeks to recharge my batteries and do some travelling in the States.

I travel light. iPod, Simpsons Top Trumps and of course one or two books. I’m a few pages in to The Testament of Gideon Mack by James Robertson and it’s already shaping up to being something special. Holiday reading is going to be good.

PS I won’t rule out the possibility of some US based posting…

Please please please post from the US! Tell us your thoughts on our bookstores or book covers. What can I say? We like it when people visit. :)

Brandon: I’ll try my best, or save it all up for a megapost when I get back.
I’ve tried to be a regular-ish visitor (this is my 4th time since 1990) although I haven’t been for 9 years!
Any good bookshops in Chicago do you know?

I’ve never been to Chicago, so I can’t speak about the bookstores. Maybe you could go to one of Bookslut’s readings? That’d probably be fun!

Stephen, My parents moved to the ‘burbs in Chicago seven years ago but the only bookstores I ever got to were borders on Michigan Avenue and a cheap outlet called Books a Million. Used to be a great bookshop – the Bookzeller – in a place called Naperville but I think that’s closed down. Have a great trip.
